Andrew's time as a pilot in the Fleet Air Arm gave him a technical knowledge and love of helicopters and aviation art which can be seen in the collection, right and on page 2. © 2010 Andrew Allen ..... Andrew works as a commercial helicopter pilot in North West England but spends most of his free time painting and sketching. He spent many years in the Fleet Air Arm flying Sea King helicopters along side the Harrier Jump Jet on HMS Ark Royal and working with 771 Naval Air Squadron Search and Rescue (SAR), based at RNAS Culdrose (HMS Seahawk), near Helston, Cornwall, tasked primarily with military and civilian Search and Rescue (SAR), this experience has given him a technical knowledge of helicopters that shines through in his very detailed artwork. He mostly works in pencil and watercolour with a fine brush to create his distinctive style.
